Dina:
Dreaming Thin versus Thinking Fit
I used to spend a lot of time ‘dreaming thin”. Dreaming thin is the process where you constantly compare yourself to other people. You set unrealistic goals and expectations. You covet the bodies of models (I mean, Gisele Bundchen…come on!!). You play “Frankenstein” – if only I had her legs, that hair, her boobs, then I would be happy. Ugh. How exhausting, time consuming, and downright crazy is that kind of behavior?
Right. So why do WE ALL do it at one time or another?
Today I started to reframe my thinking. While this won’t happen in just one day, it’s a start. I am going to try and start thinking FIT.
I know that I will most likely not see a size six jeans. I also know that after two 11+lb children, I will probably never have a perfectly flat stomach again (yes…11+lbs). Guess what? I am absolutely okay with that. I need to love the body that I have and strive to get this body in the best possible shape it can be in. For me. I will eat food that will nourish me, not eat to satisfy a craving or a stressful moment. I will no longer “Frankenstein” myself with other body parts from different people but instead, visualize what I might look like in 60 days. I am accepting my body as it is, but knowing that it can change and become what I want it to be.
BUT…
None of this will happen unless I do the work. And become accountable. And do more work. And when I am tired and want to throw in the towel, I do more work.
I am worth it.

Kelly:
Never set limits on yourself; a size 6 is possible. I was recently explaining to another client that there can be no such thing as a plateau. Notice I didn’t say “is no”. Well, at the start of the conversation, I got those deer in a headlight eyes, then the tilt of the head like a dog, then the sideways look, then the crossed arms over the chest, then she sat down and said, “oh, I thought you were just supposed to plateau, I thought that’s what is supposed to happen.” Plateau means you need to change something else in your day, your workout, your nutrition, your lifestyle. And if you’ve come as far as you have, what’s one more change? One more change is easy - that’s what. We can use this as a great example! If you (I mean that plural or as in the movie, “My Cousin Vinny”: “you’s”) get to a number on the Random Number Generator (scale for anyone just beginning to read our blogs) or on the back of a pair of jeans does that mean you’re done? Does that mean you’ve Plateau’d?
It can. It’s up to you. You decide. You can dream whatever you want. You just can’t dream to be someone else; wake up Frankenstein. (Nice one Dina!)
We are going to make up another word. Plateau is no longer “plateau”, it’s SATISFIED. Let’s turn a potentially negative word in the Science of Fitness world into a positive.
Dreams become your goals, goals become your actions, actions become you.
Happy Working For It; Dina is!
